Wooden Ships Comments on this Loch Long Class
The Loch Long Class was commissioned by members of Loch Long Sailing Club to mark the coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth and to replace their existing sailing boats with a low cost design which was capable of being used safely in the local conditions. The lines of the SwedishStjarnbat were adapted by James Croll to give a slightly larger and more seaworthy boat with a good turn of speed, easy handling and also being nice to look at.
This particular boat had a lot of work done in the previous ownership to the deck and coachroof including the addition of varnished coverboards, a lovely touch on a boat like this. She has been kept in great condition and is well equipped, including a custom made road trailer.
