Wooden Ships CommentsC.E. Nicholson Gaff Cutter
Designed by CE Nicholson and built by Ashton and Kilner in 1907. Her first owner, Capt Foster, commissioned Nicholson to design a fast cruiser that could be easily handled by a small crew and would be a comfortable offshore cruising yacht. She is a very safe, solid and comfortable boat that has been cruised extensively by the present and previous owners in various parts of the globe.
She has a total of 9 berths including 2 doubles in a very comfortable interior. Her dog house provides excellent shelter from the elements at sea and her rig is easily handled by a small experienced crew. With a newly fitted Yanmar diesel and Fischer Panda generator she can be self sufficient for long voyages.
Sold by Wooden Ships to the present owners in 1991 and since then she has been cruised to New Foundland, Greenland and back plus many other shorter trips around Europe.
Detailed notes of her trips and maintenance have been kept by the present owners along with regular survey reports and all invoices for work done so we have a detailed record of the boat and her upkeep. A recent survey produced a definitive work list from which a thorough refit was carried out between 2017 – 2018. This survey report, subsequent inspections and a list of the work done is available upon request.
The boat is now in lovely condition both structurally and cosmetically and is ready for the next custodian to continue her adventures around the globe.
