Wooden Ships Comments on this Buchanan saxon class
Designed by Alan Buchanan and built by R. J. Prior of Burnham-on -Crouch in 1961. This boat was the sixth of thirteen Saxon Class sloops built by Priors and has proven herself over the years with a number of Trans-Atlantic voyages to her name.
She has had quite a bit of work carried out in the past and during her present experienced ownership however she is at the stage where she will require some remedial repair work in the coming years. She had a new engine in 2006 and a complete new rig and spars in 2014. She has been cruised extensively around the English Channel and has worked extremely well as a family cruising yacht with her 5 berths, manageable rig and comfortable motion at sea.
The yacht is in commission and has been sailing regularly in 2019 but a desire to move to a motor yacht next season means the owners are willing to sell at an attractive price.
