Boat Description

Dimensions / General Info
Designed by Ed Dubois the Westerly Oceanlord 41 Lacondore is the perfect example of this classic British cruising yacht. Sought after for their blue water capability as much as their easy handling for short-handed sailing, these robustly built boats are on everyone's shortlist.
The Westerly Oceanlord is a real classic British cruiser that has stood the test of time. With her roomy centre cockpit, and an interior capable of sleeping eight in comfort, Lacondore represents what is just about the best in cruising yachts.
Lacondore is a well maintained, highly spiced example which has had many upgrades and enhancements since she was commissioned. Her white hull with broad burgundy stripe, white superstructure and flex-teak decking make Lacondore a very attractive yacht.
Lacondore is hull number 39 of well over 100 Oceanlords built and fitted out by Westerly Yachts to their usual impeccable standard.

Hull / Construction
Hand laminated in a combination of unidirectional, bi-directional and chopped strand mat the GRP hull of the Westerly Oceanlord is as tough as they come. Qualifying for Recreational Craft Directive (RCD) Category 'A' these boats can take you anywhere, anytime.
The 'U' shaped underbody sections, modern cast-iron fin keel and semi-balanced spade rudder reduce wetted area and promote a comfortable ride when things get rough and a sparkling level of performance.
The deck is constructed in GRP with a First Coremat core, which has enough compressive strength to permit the installation of deck fittings with simple backing plates rather than removing the core and building up GRP laminations.
The hull benefits from preventative osmosis treatment carried out in 2006 using International Paints Gelshield 200.

Main Cabin Accessed via companionway ladder from the centre cockpit. Port side - Immediately to port is a door leading to the stern of the yacht. In front of the door on the port side is the Pilots seat and desk. In front of this is a horse shoe seating arrangement around a drop-leaf table; these seats can be converted into a double-berth.
The starboard side hosts a u-shaped kitchen area. The run along the hull to starboard is mainly tiled work surface, incorporating a lifting lid giving access to a large, top entry, refrigerated box with adjustable temperature regulator. The cool box is powered by a 12v cooling unit located in the cockpit locker. The owner has added additional insulation on the outside, and inside (removable) to minimize battery drain. A Philips microwave unit is fitted into the starboard side bulkhead at worktop level . The left hand side is a double sink which has pumped hot & cold fresh water (with back up foot pump) and also seawater via a hand pump. Beyond the sink in the same run, is tiled work surface leading to storage cupboards. A gimballed, two burner cooker/oven and grill is at the end of the kitchen area. Storage areas are below the sink and work surfaces and along two sides of the kitchen area.
Beyond the kitchen area, facing the horse shoe seats, is a bench seat which can also be used as a single berth.
A passageway leads down the centre of the main cabin to the forward heads, wardrobe and front cabin areas at the bow of the yacht.
Alarms are fitted to detect Butane (floor level), Carbon Monoxide and smoke.
A 13 digital LCD TV with Freeview and DVD player is on an extendable/swivel mounting at the Pilots berth. This can also be used as a repeater, connected to the Garmin GPS Chart Plotter Unit in the cockpit, so displaying position, track, speed, radar, etc.
A Tevion Radio/CD player is also located alongside the Pilots desk area.
The two separate stainless steel tanks for holding fresh water are located under port and starboard seating areas. Each has manual valves fitted to control which (or both) is in use, and sender units to indicate levels on dials at the Pilots berth. Each tank holds approximately 40 gallons of water.
Storage cupboards are behind both Port and Starboard seating areas and large bookshelf areas are situated above both cupboard areas. 240v sockets are located in the kitchen and other areas for use when connected to shore mains, or running the internal 3kw generator. Cabin temperature control, linked to the Eberspacher heater, is located on the forward Starboard bulkhead. The through-hull water speed log, depth and fish finder transducers are located in the forward storage compartment, Port side.

Forward Heads Accessed from the Main Cabin, on the port side of the yacht.
A Jabsco seawater toilet with fixed sink and large mirror on the forward bulkhead.
The tap/shower head is extendable so it can be used as a shower and has pumped hot and cold water.
The floor is fully draining to a sump which is emptied to sea by 12v diaphragm pump.
Forward Storage Locker Accessed from the Main Cabin and opposite the forward Heads, on the starboard side.
This is a large storage area, the full height of the yacht interior.
Forward Cabin Private V-berth accessed from the Main Cabin.
Two V-type berths with separate infill section which can be used to make a continuous double berth. Both have reading lights and storage shelf on either side. There is a large storage area underneath each berth, currently used for sail storage. The front bulkhead panel is removable and gives access to the chain locker. A separate wardrobe unit is located within the cabin on the Starboard side.
Wet Locker Accessed from Main Cabin.
Located behind the companionway ladder, and accessed from the port-side. Drainage is to the bilge under the engine.
Main Cabin Bilge Access is via a floor panel in the Main Cabin, directly in front of the companionway ladders.
Contains a 12v high flow bilge pump and float switch. The pump can either be On; Controlled by the float switch; or Off. Switching is on the main control panel alongside the pilots desk.
Pilots Desk Area in Main Cabin.
Padded bench type seat, with two 110 A/h batteries wired in parallel underneath. On the front side-panel of the seat, is the main battery bank control switch (second battery bank is under Pilots Berth).
There is a large hinged desk to accommodate nautical charts with plenty of storage. A red fluorescent light is situated above and next to the desk, plus a small angle-poise light with adjustable output parallel to the desk, are installed to preserve night-vision when required.
A 3-stage Mastervolt IVO 12/25 PRO electronic battery charger is located on the bulkhead behind the Pilot. .....
