The Westerly 33 is a purposefull safe sturdy cruising yacht. Center cockpit and ketched rigged. She is idealy suited to family cruising or long range cruising with a couple. 6 berths in two seperate cabins, separate heads. Spec includes new standing rigging and guard wires in 2017. Engine factory refurbished in 2011, new electric windlass with foot controls 2017, Webasto warm air heating, H&C Presurised water, new cooker 2017 and good instruments including new Raymarine wheel pilot 2017.
Dimensions / General Info
The Westerly 33 was the bigger, beamier and heavier successor to the long-running Longbow/Renown range, and whilst also designed by Laurent Giles, and retaining the distinctive bow knuckle, has a more elegant coachroof and substantially more interior space, plus a much better standard of interior finish than the older models, with lots of solid wood trim.
The Westerly 33 was introduced in 1977, and over 200 were built before it was replaced by the very similar Discus in 1980, which used the same hull moulding, and continued in production until 1984. "Yachting Monthly" has described them as ".... substantial, safe and comfortable seaboats, popular with families for extended cruising".
"Traigh Iar" was built and commissioned by Westerly Yachts Ltd (UK) in 1978.

The hull is in white GRP with a blue stripe and the deck & superstructure are both in white GRP with blue non slip. She has a fin keel with skeg rudder and wheel steering in a centre style cockpit.

6 berths in total in 3 cabins including the saloon. Webasto heating in all cabins and the interior is finished in varnished wood and dark blue velour upholstery.
Forward cabin has 2 single berths in "V" with natural light via a forward hatch and port & stbd opening windows, good storage in shelves and underneath the berths. There is also access to the anchor chain locker.
The Heads Compartment is between the forward cabin and the saloon and features a Lavac manual sea toilet, wash basin with hot & cold pressurised water. Hanging locker to stbd.
The Saloon is spacious and well laid out with good natural light and plenty of storage space throughout. There are port and stbd single settee berths and a folding leaf table.
The Galley is "L" shaped and is to stbd aft in the saloon. It has a Neptune 4500 2 burner gas cooker with oven & grill (new 2017) and a stainless steel sink with pressurised hot & cold water and an Isoltherm top loading fridge.
The Navigation Station is to port aft in the Saloon and it has a chart table with seating which faces to port and the ships electrical control panel is situated on the aft bulkhead. Batteries under seat and isolator switch.
Aft cabin has 2 single berths and good storage space.
