Boat Show Boat
The Kite is a gaff sloop-rigged centreboarder with a light and airy two-berth cabin, a generous cockpit, light carbon spars and a weight that allows her to be trailed easily behind a family car. She has a Torqeedo Travel 1003 electric outboard but will happily take a conventional petrol outboard. This boat has been used for boat shows, demonstration and magazine articles and so has been lightly used and very well looked after. She comes complete with a Snipe 2 wheeled trailer.
"Not only is she one of the prettier traditional trailer-sailers out there but one of the quicker ones too." - Classic Boat
"Kite, in short, is a delight. She's traditional enough to appeal on the grounds of her looks and performance, yet innovative enough, with her weight-saving construction, to earn a place on the shortlist of anyone who's in the market for a nippy, rewarding, low-maintenance GRP trailer-sailor."
Hull and deck: Gelcoat finish, with vacuum infused vinyl ester resin, multi axial glass fibre, with a closed cell foam core. Marine grade BS1088 gaboon plywood used in the fit out.Very robust, but lightweight for towing, launching and recovery, with excellent osmosis protection.

Companionway sliding hatch and varnished ply washboards, with teak trim. Draining forward well for anchor stowage, mooring cleat etc. Outboard well with hull infill, petrol storage and lid, suitable for up to 6hp outboards. Teak hand rails on coachroof. Moulded in easy to clean non-slip finish.
Barton deck gear and bespoke stainless steel tabernacle. Three mooring cleats, fairleads forward. Main, throat, peak and jib halyards lead conveniently back to cleats on coachroof. Sheets and furling lines lead back to cleats in the cockpit.
NACA sectioned balanced lifting rudder and internally lead ballasted lifting centreboard. Centreboard lifted via differential winch easily operated from the cockpit. The centreboard incorporates an integral stainless steel wear strip around the tip. Ash and mahogany tiller, with tiller extension, plywood rudder stock, with custom pintles and gudgeons.
This Kite is powered by the German made Torqeedo Travel 1003 electric outboard motor mounted in a dedicated engine well. The motor is said to be equivalent to a 3hp conventional outboard and should give around 4 hours use at half power or 30 minutes at full power. If no motor is required the hole for the drive leg can be blanked using a moulded blanking plate which reduces drag, increasing sailing efficiency.
