73ft 2ins x 20ft 3ins
Built in 1925 by Cochrane of Selby as a edible oil tanker barge Hen is a National Historic Fleet vessel being the last Humber Keel of her type. 73’2” x 20’3”. All riveted double skinned steel construction she is a tiller steered unpowered craft with a small basic original aft cabin with just two rough benches around the stern and a flat up table cupboard in the middle, just somewhere to have a cup of tea!! The owner can supply a vintage solid fuel stove for approx 100.00. Forward is a similarly sized small paint and rope store. The hold is accessed through eight hatches on the flat top of the deck. The hold space is approximately 60ft long x 16ft wide and is divided by steel bulkheads into four tanks with a central "wash" bulkhead running down the centre line (which all could be removed for a conversion). The tank space is all dry. The depth of the hold from the tank floors to the deck is approx. 12ft. The hold/tank top is of very sound steel so everything below is already weather tight. Lately used as a firework and event platform on the Mersey Hen has just been drydocked for survey and repainting in August 2017 and has full commercial Mersey Docks and Manchester Ship Canal certification and is still in service on the Mersey. Good survey report available August 2017.
For further use as a tank vessel, firework / events or workboat platform. Alternatively she could maybe make an instant liveaboard houseboat with a log cabin / mobile home placed on the flat top deck, or by converting the hold. Laying Liverpool
